The National Endowment for the Arts is a public agency located in Washington D.D.  They are dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts and providing leadership in arts education.  They were established by Congress in 1965 as in an independent agency of the federal government.  The Endowment for the Arts is the nation's largest annual funder of the arts, bringing wonderful art to inner cities, military bases, and rural areas throughout the 50 states.  www.nea.gov
