Eagle City Gallery Artist of the Month for May 2012

Greta Redzko - Painting

“May her ambition in art one day catch up to her excellent artistic talent.” - Mrs. Harper, High School Art Teacher

These words by my art teacher have meant the world to me.  It’s been a long time since these words were written in my yearbook and my ambition has caught up. I am a self taught artist and love painting on wood, pottery and canvas. I use oil paints, some acrylics and marker.  Each piece that I create is from my heart and soul.

"Kat Eyes" is from an image of my girlfriend that she allowed me to use.  In this image only her eyes were showing through her long flowing hair.  She let me take that photo and add a face. The piece is 9” x 12” and painted on acid free paper.

The next painting "All Things Remembered" is the love I have for the wild and nature.  As a child I would collect bugs in jars. My mum told me that I use to sleep with a jar of lightening bugs. I don't do that anymore so I collect them by painting them. The painting is 4’ x 4’ and painted on wood board and is part of a series "The COUP"

I hope that you enjoy my pieces as I have enjoyed creating them.

Thank you,

Greta Redzko
