St. Luke's Eagle Gallery Artists of the Month for January 2012

Todd Warner, Oils

Todd Warner has always had a fascination with art.  Whether it be working on canvas or paper, he has always been drawn into the idea of changing the idea of the ‘Blank Canvas' into something more pleasing and beautiful.

As with many artists, Todd has tried out many media in relation to his work. From the early years of crayons, to the more sophisticated wielding of Conte.  Todd has yet alas held onto his love of oils.  The rich history of oil painting, the earthy smells of the pigment and the comfort brought by using the familiar enables Todd to create his works with great precision and peace.

Mr. Warner's work has an appeal to the human condition.  This abstract thought that embodies everything from a social aspect to a personal notion of how we act within our cultural identities.  It is within this self-awareness that Todd gains his passion and releases it onto the canvas in a flood of emotion.

Each piece Todd creates has its own emotion, its own personality and existence.  Though when you look at his work, you will not see the same thing as your neighbor, you will see a work based off your experience and the conditions you have surrounded yourself with.
