St. Luke's Eagle Gallery Artists of the Month for May 2012

Carissa Linder, Painting

Carissa Linder is an artist living and studying in Boise, Idaho. Her works revolve around the idea of naturalism versus modernism.  The idea that clashes engrained prehistoric psychologies and their forced function in a rapidly changing world. Carissa is in the final stages of her Fine Arts Degree at Boise State.  Her work has been featured in community events including “Art in the Bar” and the “Freak Alley Gallery” projects.

“The City of Trees” series represents the living emotional aspect of trees, as well as the physical everyday encounters we have with them. Carissa chose to juxtapose the expressionistic with the realistic, appreciating both the emotional and physical affect our natural surroundings have upon us. Boise’s incredible diversity of life is her inspiration. Carissa hopes these pieces will be your inspiration to stop for a moment and truly see and appreciate the translucence of a leaf, the asymmetry of a branch, or the solemnity of a fallen tree.  Art as a method of self-expression has taught Carissa vigilant observation, whether it’s the veins of a leaf or the shadow of a face.

Carissa wants to travel, to create, and to share.  She believes the more experiences she can have whether in culture or natural surroundings will deepen her ability as an artist and as a human being. Studying abroad is Carissa’s ultimate goal.  All proceeds from the sale of her work are going towards her fund to finish her degree in Florence and JapanAll photos manually taken and developed.
